This is the time of the year. I know that right now, back in Turkey, my mom and dad are emptying out crates of mandarins and oranges sent out from the gardens of Bodrum onto the kitchen counter. Instead of binging on the never-ending supply with them, here in New York, I am trying to make the best of what's available and admiring a large variety of labels I came across in here.
Meanwhile, a good way to learn more about citrus is going back to the Cooking Issues post "Citrus Lunacy on Gene Lester’s Ranch: Attack of the Acid-Eaters" to read about Dave Arnold and Harold McGee's "eat-it-all, shotgun-tasting". Dave refers to another great post as well, in which you can find a link to download a guide to citrus cultivars.
